Submit the Body of Press Release or Article
Press Releases are also called News Releases or Media Releases.
A press release is not a poem, letter, a flyer or advertisement.
You should distribute press releases when you are:
- Launching a media campaign.
- Rolling out a marketing campaign.
- Holding an event (seminars, luncheon, conference, party, etc.)
- Releasing a new product or product line.
- Announcing to prospects and customers that you've changed your location or are opening a new branch.
- Announcing that a company has made staff promotions or signed a new partner.
- Publishing quarterly and year-end financial reports.
Press realease are the most important documents to media entities. Media entities pay close attention to press releases because they are typically short and to the point.
Note the following when constructing a press release:
- It should be no more than 250 words (one page) double spaced.
- It should have a headline that summarizes the story, helps the editor find that lead, and organizes the story.
- It is written in third person, never first person.
- A great release tells the story in only four paragraphs.
- Each paragraph should be less than thirty words.
- The purpose of each paragraph is to move the story along.
- Include a contact name and telephone number in case the media requires more information or clarification.
- If it is for immediate release (and it usually is), print those words after or below the current date.
- If the release is to be held for any length of time, indicate the appropriate date.
Paragraph one of the press release contains the basic facts: who, what, where, when, and why.
Paragraph two offers a slightly broader explanation of the basic reason for the release.
Paragraphs three and four contain more information on the reason for the release.
Put the least important facts at the bottom. That's where editors cut first, even without reading.

The National Black Agenda Online (NBAO) E-newsletter Expand Services to include Small Business Marketing
The National Black Agenda Online (NBAO) E-newsletter, which was created 10 years ago by Cathy Harris, the CEO and Publisher of Angels Press, announces an expansion of their services.
For the last 10 years the e-newsletter has served as a newswire service, where our stories, articles and events have been picked up by many mainstream media outlets.
But now due to the large volume of African Americans starting businesses and since marketing is going to be the largest expense in running a successful business, the e-newsletter is announcing an online presence to market the services and products of African American small businesses.
In the past, the e-newsletter disseminated activism events on a national and international level bi-weekly to over 50,000 readers. But now the e-newsletter and website presence would like to bring activists together with entrepreneurs and help activists become entrepreneurs by marketing their services and products.
In the near future, it is our goal to expand the National Black Agenda Online
E-newsletter to more than 2 days a week and eventually become a subscription e-newsletter.
